A thoughtful approach
to custom cabinetry.

Designing and installing custom cabinetry is not a single decision but a sequence of deliberate choices that shape how your space looks, functions and ages over time. At Forma, our process is built around clarity, precision, and long-term value — from initial discovery to final installation.

Five stages. One standard.

Whether you're starting a custom kitchen cabinet project or full millwork throughout your home, the process is structured to remove uncertainty at every stage.

Step 01

Discovery & Direction

Every project begins with a clear understanding of how your space will be used — not just how it should look. During the discovery phase, we take the time to understand your layout, lifestyle, storage needs, and long-term goals for the home or space. This is where direction is established.

We review inspiration, discuss must-haves, and identify opportunities for custom cabinetry that improve flow, function and visual balance throughout the space. For custom kitchen cabinet projects, this includes early conversations and precise measurements around appliances, utilities, work zones, and how custom kitchen cabinetry can support daily use without compromising design.

By defining scope and intent early, we create a foundation for built-in cabinetry and millwork and cabinetry solutions that feel considered and avoid costly revisions later in the process.

Step 02

Design with Purpose

With precise measurements and site conditions documented, the design phase translates intent into form. This is where layout, proportions and function are carefully resolved to create custom cabinetry that integrates to any space.

Forma develops detailed 2D and 3D designs for your custom cabinetry, allowing you to clearly visualise storage, appliance integration, clearances and overall composition. Alongside layout, we guide one of the most critical decisions in the process: material selection — including cabinetry profiles, finishes, and colour palettes.

Built-ins, panelling and architectural details are designed in relation to the surrounding space so that the millwork and cabinetry feel cohesive throughout the home. See examples across our completed projects. By addressing function, scale, and alignment early, we avoid compromises during fabrication and ensure your custom cabinetry performs as well as it looks once installed.

Step 03

Precise Fabrication

Once designs, materials and finishes are finalised, fabrication begins with a focus on accuracy and consistency. All custom cabinetry is produced using materials sourced from trusted sustainable suppliers or finished through our specialised paint facilities, ensuring selected colour palettes, profiles, and textures are carried through exactly as approved.

Each component is guided through every stage of fabrication — CNC machining, edge banding, assembly and finishing. Complex elements are staged and test-fit prior to delivery to ensure custom cabinetry and built-in cabinetry arrive ready for precise installation. This approach limits the need for extensive on-site modification, lowering cost on install and time occupying essential space on site.

Installation

Cabinetry installation is where planning, design, and fabrication come together. Our installation process is carried out with the same level of care and precision applied throughout the earlier phases. Custom cabinetry is installed by experienced professionals who understand the importance of alignment, on-site conditions, and finish.

Each component is placed with attention to detail, ensuring reveals, fillers, panel transitions and integrations are executed exactly as designed. Throughout installation, we maintain a clean and organised work environment and coordinate closely with builders and trades as needed.

Our installation contractors service custom cabinetry projects across Toronto and the GTA, delivering consistent results from first placement to final adjustment.

Step 05

Confident Completion

Once installation is complete, we review every detail to ensure the cabinetry performs as intended and aligns with the approved design. Final adjustments are made where needed, and each space is walked through to confirm fit, function and finish.

Our process doesn't end when tools are packed away. We remain available to answer questions, address fine-tuning, and ensure long-term satisfaction with your custom cabinetry. Whether the project involves custom kitchen cabinetry, integrated built-in cabinetry, or full millwork and cabinetry throughout the home, the goal is the same: a result that feels considered, durable and complete.

For homeowners across Toronto, the GTA and Ontario, our process is designed to remove uncertainty and deliver custom cabinetry that continues to perform and age well long after installation.
