Most closet companies sell a system with a fixed set of components that you configure to your space. The result fits in the approximate sense. However, it does not account for the specific things you own, how you actually get dressed, or the ceiling height and wall conditions of the room you have. For most people, the compromise is noticeable every day.

Forma builds closets as custom cabinetry, not as configured systems. We start by understanding what needs to be stored and how the space gets used. For instance, someone who irons at home needs a different layout than someone who sends everything to the cleaner. From there, we design the cabinetry to match. So the finished result reflects how you actually use the space rather than how a catalogue assumed you would. Generally, this means the walk-in closet that seemed adequate in the floor plan actually works once everything is assigned a place. Because the hanging sections, drawer depths, shelf spacing, and lighting are all designed together, the finished closet works as expected rather than as a compromise between what you wanted and what the system allowed.

A closet designed around what you own and how you get dressed works differently every day than one designed around what the system includes.

What we build

01

Walk-in closets

Full cabinetry systems for dedicated walk-in closet rooms, with hanging sections at the right heights and drawer banks in the right locations. Because the layout starts with your wardrobe rather than a default template, it fits the way you actually use it. Moreover, the hanging heights relate to what you own rather than what most systems allow.

02

Master dressing rooms

Dressing room builds that treat the closet as a room in its own right, with island storage and full-height mirrors. Because the cabinetry fills the room properly, the space feels finished. In addition, an island with drawers gives you somewhere to sort things rather than using the floor or a chair.

03

Reach-in closets

Custom cabinetry for standard bedroom closets, built to the exact opening dimensions. Because the layout uses the full depth and height available, you get more out of the space than any adjustable system can provide.

04

His and hers sections

Shared closets with clearly differentiated zones. Because the hanging lengths, drawer configurations, and storage proportions are designed for two different wardrobes, both sides actually work rather than one person getting the better end.

05

Shoe and accessory storage

Dedicated shoe storage, accessory drawers, and display sections designed into the closet system. Because they are part of the original design, they fit properly. Furthermore, the shoe shelves angle to show the shoes rather than stacking them flat. Yet the accessory drawers sit at a comfortable height so you are not bending down to retrieve things at the bottom of the closet.

06

Integrated lighting

Under-shelf, in-drawer, and ambient lighting designed as part of the cabinetry. Because the lighting goes in during fabrication, the closet is properly lit for getting dressed. Consequently, you are not relying on whatever overhead light the room happened to come with. So the colour accuracy for choosing clothes is consistent regardless of the time of day or season. Also, motion-activated lighting is easier to integrate during fabrication than retrofit later.
